The old post office building in Pichilemu, Chile was demolished over the weekend. The building had been severely damaged after the strong February 27 Chile earthquake and March 11 earthquake.
The demolishing process took two days, the Saturday and Sunday just gone. The building was constructed in the 1920s, and worked as post office since the 1990s. The building was located in front of Pichilemu’s police station.
“It was really sad to see one of our oldest buildings taken off,” said Juan Venegas, who was watching the demolition. The building was constructed of adobe. It was not scheduled to be demolished before the two earthquakes occurred, as the decision was made after the March 11 earthquake took place.
