Training For Higher Jumps

If you’re preparing for a basketball game or high jumps in track and field, it’s important that you learn how to jump higher if you want to improve your performance in these sports. There are instructional DVDs and fitness magazine articles which give good tips on how to jump higher and your coach can assist in the training. Before you train for better jumps, you should meet with your doctor for a physical exam to determine if you’re healthy for an intensive training program.

Before you start the training you should do warm-up exercises is because this strengthens your muscles and reduces the stress on your joints, which are important in training for high jumps. Warm-up exercises also regulate your body temperature. Over the next three weeks do some weightlifting exercises and do twenty to thirty calf lifts per day then increase the number of lifts as your muscles strengthen. You should also do 40 to 60 squats because makes your legs stronger and you’ll learn how to jump higher as a result.

Another way to train for higher jumps is by doing between 40 and 80 leap-ups every other day. To do leap-ups, stand up and do a squat, and after you do this you want to jump as high as possible. Another exercise that’s helpful is vertical jumps. Stand on the tips of your toes and jump as high as you can.

While you’re doing these exercises, you want to hydrate yourself by drinking water and consuming fruits and vegetables as well as whole grains. Another thing you want to do before and after the exercises is stretch few minutes so your muscles will be relaxed.

If you can afford to do so, work with a fitness trainer to help you increase the height of your jumps. Practice the techniques he taught you at home and continue to do your regular training exercises for increased endurance. You want to get at least seven to eight hours of sleep at night and during the day bend your knee a few times as a supplement to your training.

Finally, after you’ve done a few weeks of training visit your coach or fitness trainer and do a few high jumps for him. If the coach or trainer feels you still need to improve, ask him the areas that need improvement and how you can improve in them.
